In my opinion this is the best painting I've done. It's also the largest with the length approaching one meter. A lot of people commented on how they like the blue of the water the best, (one person even thought he might like a painting with just the blue background only!) but I was surprised at how realistic the koi ended up looking.
The water really was that shade of blue. I took this picture from the dock of one of the famous 5 colour lakes in Fukushima.
