This painting came from a desire to do more artwork that focuses on people, and to try something different than my usual nature/animal themed work.

However I also wanted to do something with bright colours as well as use the theme of traditional Japan. What could be better than a young Japanese girl in a kimono?

I used a photograph taken by a friend years ago, but the kimono colour and design are mine.
