Sunset and Torii |

Date: 2008 Due to the popularity of my 'Red Leaves and Torii' painting, I had the idea of doing more torii in different locations, but using the same idea of combining different shades of red and orange. It ended up being a lot more complex than I thought, elements such as light and the direction of shadow, colour and getting the ocean to look somewhat natural all took a lot of time, and I'm still not really sure I'm satisfied with the end result. This particular scene doesn't actually exist, but was taken from various photographs of torii, sunsets and oceans.
