Despite what I just said about moving away from simple animal portraits, there are going to be some exceptions of course.

The original photograph was taken by Jason Collin, which along with his Mt. Fuji photo are two of my all time favourites. When I saw it I knew I had to paint it.

Other reasons to paint it?
I have a soft spot in my heart (and brush) for colourful fish.
I wanted to improve on my previous carp paintings.
I love the colour orange.
