Although I haven't posted any new art here for a while, I continue to paint and work toward my two goals of self improvement, and getting more widespread artistic recognition.

'Killin' Jack the Malakite' is my favourite in a series of short stories all based in the same universe. Written by UK Mike, an aspiring writer, he requested I paint a scene from the story, with a full creative licence. This particular scene near the beginning of the story features Jack, a genetically mutated and misunderstood hero on his genocidal mission to rid the world of all Bunnymen, and get revenge on the one who created him. Read the story here to find out if he succeeds.

A while back, I received an email from someone who expressed interest in purchasing some paintings of various scenes of Japan. I was free to choose whatever scenes I wanted, be they postive or negative. Here are the first three I've done.

This is a Siberian Blue Robin, and is most commonly seen in rural or forest settings.
Until now, I was unaware of this bird species, but I instantly loved the striking blue of his feathers which contrasted well with the pink of the cherry tree blossoms.

I took this mobile phone photo of Kumi and a dog we happened across in Shinjuku years back, and always intended to paint it.
I always liked the look of communication and understanding the two of them seem to be sharing.

As soon as I saw this photograph, I knew I had to paint it. I was blown away by the fantastic combination of various shades of red and orange, as well as how nature and traditional architecture complimented each other so well.

This particular scene is of a Japanese torii, which is a traditional gate usually found in front of temples and shrines.
The photo was taken by my friend Dale, who kindly gave me permission to recreate it. He has taken lots of other great pictures which you can view on his photo album site here, but this one was my favourte.

As you can probably tell, I enjoy painting nature scenes the most, but also love painting in bright colours. It's not often that I can do both at the same time.
