Quite a delay bringing you an update here, my longest yet since I started this thing. Sorry to those of you who were wondering if I was still alive. Well lots of stuff has happened since I got back from Australia. Besides starting a new job I finally (having meant to get one since last October) got a new computer, a Dell Inspiron 6000. You just know you're going to hear more about it in the 'my life' section soon. Anyway, the challenge was getting all my web stuff transferred over to the new machine. It may sound easy but my external CD burner and my ethernet PC card (to connect to the internet) on my old computer broke, leaving me with no real way to transfer any data. Funny thing was, they both broke down after I got my new computer. Maybe the shame of being in the presence of such a fantastic machine caused them to expire? Anyway I solved the problem of transferring my website files over by downloading them from my FTP server, but what about all my other stuff? That's not all. I also needed to figure out how to use the MX 2004 version of Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash. I've had the software lying around for a while now but I couldn't use it on my old machine cuz the OS was Windows 98. I've been using Flash 5 and Dreamweaver Ultradev for the last 4 years. Anyway they're not much different, but there were little things that slowed me down. For instance Dreamweaver MX 2004 didn't like my scrolling text at all, screwed up the whole page layout. I had to change it a bit, some of you might have noticed that 'Mike's Facts' is no longer scrolling, but fading in and out. Personally I like the scroll better. I'll see if I can't change it back sometime. Another big problem was that my new computer has a Japanese OS (my choice) which means that installing anything (like the internet, my digital camera, new software, etc.) takes much longer. Anyway the hard stuff is over (knock on wood) so from now on you can (hopefully) expect regular updates again.
