As I begin to learn more about the world of photography, I recently learned of the existence of something called a 'lens blower' which is a plastic sack attached to a tube used to blow dust off camera lenses. My friend Jason, on his way to becoming a professional photographer, likes to whip his out sometimes and clean the dust out of UK Mike's apartment and his XBox 360 which, while not exactly the pupose it was created for, works admirably. First we have the 'Giant Blower' for those obsessed with power and performance. Not only blows dust off your lens, but can blow off small pebbles as well.
The 'Holding Blow' comes with a guard for those who feel safer with a bit of extra finger protection. Strictly for beginner blowers.
The 'Super Blower with Sucker' gives you the most for your money. With this baby, you have the option to either blow off the dust, suck it up, or do both at the same time! Some skill is required for this model though as beginners have been known to make the mistake of sucking up the lens dust first, then blowing it back on again. Make sure to blow first, then suck.
The 'Japan Blow' blower is for those nationalists who hate to use any kind of product not made in Japan. This blower blows Japanese air onto Japanese equipment only.
Then finally we have the blower that makes a statement against the current state of the country...
Anyway as you can see, in Japan blowing dust off lenses isn't some simple task. If you're in any doubt as to which blower is correct for you, consult with the store staff (or myself of course) to make sure you get the blower that is best for you. Your lens will thank you. |
