Once again it's the time of year to buy lottery tickets. Unlike North America, Japan doesn't give out multi-million dollar prizes every week. Instead, they have a tri-annual lottery where the top prize equals roughly 2 million dollars. Not too much when you consider that in the U.S. some guy recently won something like $250 million dollars. Still, over here it's a pretty big deal and the place to buy your ticket is the Ginza/Yurakucho lottery booth which has produced more winners than any other lottery kiosk in the country. Day and night people can be found lining up here. Of course, no one really takes into consideration that the reason for it's luckiness is the simple fact that more tickets are sold here than anywhere else. Nope, people stubbornly believe that luck is in the air, which is why Yoko and I spent a hard earned 2000 yen to buy six tickets in the hope of making it to Easy street. I can't think of anyone else who deserves to win more than us, can you?
